Deal Branch held the annual 355th Corps birthday dinner on Thursday 31st October in the main club room.
The evening started with floodlit drum beatings on Walmer Green by the Dover Sea Cadets Band. Lt Colonel Jason Burcham from the RM Band Service took the salute on the conclusion of the display.
Members then sat down to a traditional corps dinner with Archie Houston Branch Secretary saying Grace and lighting a candle for absent friends. At the end of the meal where the wine and port flowed freely, toasts were given – to Her Majesty the Queen by our President Col David Storrie, and to the Captain General by our Chairman Paul Richardson. The Royal Marines Citation and Toast was given by Graham Dear and a final toast to absent friends by Archie Houston.
The evening concluded with an excellent address by Lt Col Burcham
Our thanks go to Sue Cornish and her team for the excellent meal served. We would also like to thank RMA-TRMC who supported this event with a grant.
