A ‘Burn’s lunch’ was held once again on Sunday 27th January 2019 to celebrate the life and poetry of Robert ‘Rabbie’ Burn’s, the Bard of Ayrshire, and is always held on the Sunday nearest to his birthday on the 25th.
Our regular kilted Piper Alec was there to pipe into lunch the thirty-one members attending this years event, and once all seated piped in the welcome to the haggis, carried by our stewardess Sue. The Address to the Haggis was carried out by Graham Dear in his usual splendid way, nobody could do it better, and we thank both him and Alec for their continued commitment to this special occasion in the clubs calendar.
The excellent three-course meal, prepared by Sue and served by her lovely ladies consisted of a starter of potato, leek and salmon soup, followed by the main course of the haggis, neaps and tatties. An alternative main of chicken was available to all those still uncertain of the contents of the haggis, and a special home made desert of raspberry’s and cream and then coffee and mints rounded off a fine meal.
We say thanks to all involved for a very enjoyable afternoon.
