Sunday September 22nd saw the 30th Anniversary of the Deal Bombing with the Annual Memorial Service taking place in the Memorial Garden here at Deal. One of the largest attendances made up of the families, serving band service, former members of the band service and friends.
A brass ensemble from the Portsmouth Royal Band provided the music during the service with a bugler playing Last Post and Reveille. The Reverend Jane Walker conducted the Service with the Roll of Honour read by the Principal Director of Music Lt Colonel Jon Ridley.
A new Plaque was blessed, this has the names of the the musicians killed, and is the work of former WO1 Bandmaster David Yates and funded by the Royal Marines Charity.
Wreaths and flowers were laid by family members, Lt Colonel Jason Burcham DMRM, the chairmen of Deal RMA , Deal Bandstand Trust, RM Deal Heritage Trail and those of civic dignitaries.
After the Service many people attended the RMA club for refreshments.
