A ‘Ladies Night’ was held in the club on Thursday 19th April to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday.
Forty five guests were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco before sitting down at the beautifully laid tables for a fine 3 course meal cooked by our wonderful stewardess Sue and served by her team of young ladies, which included Katie and Lou our regular and popular bar staff.
Our chairman Paul Richardson gave a welcome introduction and ‘Grace’ was given by our Master of Ceremonies Bob Guest.
After the meal the Port was passed round ready for the Toast’s. Bob Davies proposed the Toast to ‘Her Majesty The Queen’, somehow taking 40 years off her real age of 92 ( I shall be waiting with interest to see the ‘New years Honours’ list ) This was followed by the Toast to ‘The Royal Marines’ which was proposed by Gary Moor, ‘Absent Friends’ by ‘Dusty’ Miller, and ‘Our Ladies’ by Mark Simpson.
Our Guest Speaker was Hessie Edwards who had the ladies, and some men, in fits of laughter with her well observed observations of men in general! Thank you Hessie, it was a very amusing talk.
Hessie’s husband Graham who also attended was presented with a cheque for £50 by our Chairman on behalf of the club for his ‘Prostate Health’ Charity.
An all round enjoyable evening, and we send our thanks to all those who helped to make the evening a resounding success.
