2018 Burn's Lunch

A ‘Burns’ lunch was held in the club on Sunday 21st January 2017 to celebrate the life and poetry of ‘Rabbie Burns’ and is always held on the nearest Sunday to his birthday on the 25th. The address to the haggis was written by him to show his appreciation of the dish.

A fully kilted Piper, Alec, was present to pipe in the haggis, which was addressed once again by another splendid performance by Graham Dear, also attired in full Scottish regalia. The Piper continued to entertain the thirty six members present during the three course meal, which consisted of a potato, leek and salmon soup, the ‘haggis, neeps and tatties’, followed by a raspberry and cream dessert. An alternative main of chicken was available to those who were unsure of the ‘contents’ of the haggis! The excellent meal was prepared and served by our lovely steward, Sue, and her team of helpers. A ‘tot’ of whisky was available to all to drink, or pour over the haggis, and a most enjoyable afternoon was rounded off with coffee. Many thanks to all those involved.
