Writer and Director Brian Short writes:
Welcome to this year's Sergeant's Mess production, 'The Sound of Muesli'.
It is the age old story of badly singing nuns battling the oppressive regime of the Nasty Party, who have banned "das singings and funness"...
This year's script was inspired by opening a kitchen cabinet and spilling breakfast muesli onto the floor. Had I opened the other cabinet the show might have been called 'Cornflakes the Movie' or 'The Power of Porridge'.
The writing process takes about three months before I first inflict it upon the cast and we start meeting weekly to read it out loud. So in effect the whole process takes about nine months from beginning to end, although after the show you might think we should have taken longer!
Please remember we are amateurs, and other than your applause we get nothing for all our work other than blisters, tears and one night a week away from our wives.
