2016 Corps Dinner

The 352nd Birthday of our Corps was celebrated with a formal black tie dinner on Thursday 27th October 2016.
Our Guest of Honour was Warrant Officer1 Corps Bugle Major AJ Piner RM, a serving member of the Royal Marines since 1985,
A superb four course meal was prepared by our steward, Sue, with a starter of smoked mackerel pate, followed by roast beef, then Mrs C's homemade berry cheesecake ending with a cheese board, coffee and mints. The meal served by Sue, and her efficient band of helpers; many thanks to you all.
Following the welcome by the Chairman Paul Richardson,
Grace was given by C/Sgt Andy ‘Pastie’ Cornish RM, and was given in his own inimitable style and the toasts were, ‘HM The Queen’ proposed by our Chaiman Paul ‘Riggo’ Richardson, ‘The Captain General’ proposed by our President Col David Storrie RM, ‘Absent Friends’ proposed by Jim Strathdee, and the citation and toast to the ‘Royal Marines’ by Lew Cooper.
AJ then gave a talk on his time in the service and his thoughts on the future events in the Corps.
An excellent evening with thanks to all those involved in the preparation and planning .

On the 28th October 1664 the Admirals Regiment ( Duke of York and Albany’s Maritime Regiment of Foot) was formed, later to become the Royal Marines.
‘ Happy Birthday’ Royal!
