2016 Armed Forces Day

This years event in Deal to celebrate and remember our Armed Forces took place on Sunday 26th June at 1050hrs with a Drumhead Service on the apron of our pier.
A fair and dry day saw another good turn out of veterans and local dignitaries, which included our MP Charlie Elphicke. Fourteen Standards were on parade and the Parade Marshal was Mr Julian de-Zille.
The Snowdown Colliery Band was once again in attendance, and we were privileged this year to have the bugle calls sounded by RM Andy ‘Pastie’ Cornish in full uniform. The service was conducted by the Reverend John Lines MBE.
The Exhortation was recited by Mr Edward Barkway, Chairman of the Downs Branch of the Royal British Legion, and the Kohima Epitaph by Mr Peter Woods, Chairman of the Dover, Deal and Walmer Branch of the Burma Star Association.
The march off was led by Training Ship Lynx, Sea Cadet Band and the salute was taken by Staff Sgt Stuart Gemmell.
A buffet reception was then held in the RBL club.
