2015 Corps Dinner

The 351st Birthday of our Corps was celebrated with a formal black tie dinner on Thursday 29th October 2015.
Our Guests of Honour were Brigadier David Evans RM, a serving member of the Royal Marines since 1983, and Councillor Alan Marsh, our good friend and supporter of the branch; thank you once again for your generosity.
The superb four course meal was prepared by the brother-in-law of our steward, Sue, with a starter of smoked mackerel, followed by beef wellington, then a crème brulee, ending with a cheese board, coffee and mints. Our wine waiters were Anthony and Callum, and the meal served by Sue, and her efficient band of helpers; many thanks to you all.
Grace was given by C/Sgt Andy ‘Pastie’ Cornish RM, and was given in the form of a very amusing poem, and the toasts were, ‘HM The Queen’ proposed by our Chaiman Paul ‘Riggo’ Richardson, ‘The Captain General’ proposed by our President Col David Storrie RM, ‘Absent Friends’ proposed by Jim Strathdee, and the citation and toast to the ‘Royal Marines’ by our Secretary Mike Baxter.
The Brigadier gave a talk on his time in the service and his thoughts on the future events in the Corps.
An excellent evening with thanks to all those involved in the preparation and planning .
On the 28th October 1664 the Admirals Regiment ( Duke of York and Albany’s Maritime Regiment of Foot) was formed, later to become the Royal Marines.
‘ Happy Birthday’ Royal!
